Siesta Public Beach

(6 votes)

Voted one of "America's Best Beaches" Siesta Public Beach is the area's most pupular beach. Accessible from South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, this beach offers everything a beachgoer could want, beginning with that magnificent soft white sand that has given it an international reputation.

The wide public beach stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to an attractive pavilion that houses restrooms, a snack shop, a souvenir and beach-gear store and even a place for getting beads in your hair.

It offers all the amenities any family could want, with beach volleyball nets, shaded picnic areas and grills, a playground and plenty of restrooms. And you can walk a few miles down the coast to Point of Rocks.

It's a beach for all ages, but a particularly popular gathering spot for high-school and college-age kids, who meet or reunite with friends (or find new ones sneaking glances from behind well-placed books or sunglasses).

There's a large parking lot, but it can easily fill up during tourist season, and there are limited options nearby.
